CHER - CLOSER TO THE TRUTH
GETS THE WALLY STAR!

I have one thing to tell you people, and that is that Cher's new album is good. It's really good. It's fucking hot. Don't knock it until you've heard it.I'm finally old enough to comprehend all of Cher's amazingness. The woman has been through it, and then sings about it like only Cher can. The most impressed I ever was with her was when she spoke at Sonny's funeral, but this album is a close second. The title is completely apt: she lays out the truth as she sees it without anger, judgement, or conflict. The lyrics are packed with great advice and insight, and the music could not be more poptastically divine. There isn't a bad track on the album so it's hard to pick favorites, but the stand out tracks for me are "I Walk Alone" and "Lie To Me", both co-written by P!nk, "My Love", "Sirens", and Miley Cirus's "I Hope You Find It." "Favorite Scars" is a classic Cher track, and I find it impossible not to do my best Cher imitation whenever it plays.I have been listening to Cher's albums since I was a teenager.

She is always good, but this album is good on a higher level. She sings with an adult maturity that brings a real depth of emotion and experience that allows her to be a great teacher without ever getting preachy. If I were to ever have a dinner where I could invite any ten people, Cher would definitely be one of them.Cher is about to embark on a world tour, so look for dates near you. She is doing a show at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn which is only a few blocks away from my house, so I'm going for sure!
